There has been an increase of talk about the effects of greenhouse gases, and how it is changing the climate and damaging our earth. You will find that there are two sides to this story, on one side you have the people that do not believe that human activities have anything to do with the earth is heating up. On the other side of that same coin you have the group of people that say that human's are the cause of this increasing heat. Basically the effect of greenhouse gases has on our environment is damaging, and has increased the global warming that has already been occurring. Yes what I believe is that the earth would have heated up regardless if we were here or not, but the rate at which it is heating up is due to the things that we have been doing. The more fossil fuels we burn the more carbon dioxide is released and gets trapped in the atmosphere. This is what is aiding in the rapid increasing temperature. Now for the people that claim that the earth is just following the cycle that it is supposed to take. Your right! But would it have done this now and this fast if we weren't here. I don't think so. We may not have caused this problem, but we are certainly not helping it in any way at all. Even if we stopped burning every bit of fossil fuels the effects of greenhouse gases would still affect us but maybe not as quickly. Of course stopping entirely is not going to ever happen, and the sheer fact that even if we did it would happen makes many people not care about what they are doing. They choose not to conserve in many areas that they could. If everyone did their part things would improve as far as the rate at which things are changing. There are many of us living right now that will probably never see the heat reach the high temperatures that are said to be coming. Does this give you the right to destroy the earth for the people that will? You daughter or son and their children are the one's that will be affected, and the things that are going to happen is nothing that I would wish upon my worst enemy. Some things have already begun to change, and as the entire world continues to change further we will see things happen. Animals have to move, but where will they go? The increasing sea levels will eventually spill over. The warming sea will create new types of species. And these changes will continue until we barely recognize our own homeland. |
