How do greenhouse gases absorb radiation? It's actually a pretty cool thing and the fact that this is all part of nature makes it even that much more interesting. Radiation comes from the sun, it's the light that we see every morning when we wake up. You can feel it penetrating through your skin on a hot sunny day sitting near the pool. These sunrays come into contact with greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and bonds to them, which is called absorptions of this radiation energy. Carbon dioxide is really the only greenhouse gas that is able to absorb radiation. How do greenhouse gases absorb radiation? As I mentioned a second ago the only gas that has the ability to do this is carbon dioxide. Oxygen and nitrogen, which are one of the major gases in the atmosphere, do not. The earth is filled with many things that are extremely fascinating, but what is happening to us right now is not something that we really want. Global warming is a problem, and the greenhouse gases are effecting the temperature and putting each and everyone of us, not to mention any living thing on earth in harms way. There has been a ton of controversy regarding global warming, but this doesn't change the fact that things have begun to change, the heat is rising and life as we have known it for hundreds of years is changing as a result of it. We have only two choices here. The first choice is that we can sit back and watch the earth get destroyed by the fast rising heat because of the increasing amounts of greenhouse gases and earths natural processes. Or the second choice which is to do something about it, and stop what we have been doing for years and change the amounts of gases that we all produce through various activities. You can search the internet and learn more about the above question, How do greenhouse gases absorb radiation, and I would suggest learning more about the affects that all of this is having on the earth as well as the health risks that are associated with it all as well. What you find just might scare you enough to begin playing your part in the efforts to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases. There is absolutely no lack of information regarding this issue, and also amazing eye opening information about the things that we need to do to help. Don't worry it doesn't involve hugging a tree or protesting. |
